  • "I am a professional runner based in Mammoth. I've worked with a ton of strength trainers/physios over the course of my career, and Melissa is among the best in the country. I watched myself improve quickly over our time together, and now I am as strong as I've ever been in my life."

    – TIM G.

  • "Melissa is by far the most talented and skilled PT our family has been to. We have two high level athletes that treat with her regularly. Her Pre-Hab and strength training is equally effective as her post injury care. Melissa is always incorporating the latest certifications and techniques into her care. Can't recommend her highly enough, no one better in the field!"

    – LAUREN Y.

  • "Promising start to a nagging ski related knee issue. First session yielded measurable results where others failed. Melissa is an intuitive problem solver."

    – PETER M.

  • "She is a Swiss Army knife in the physio world, incredibly knowledgeable, and constantly stays updated with the latest research."

    – DANI M.

  • "Melissa has provided amazing rehab from injury as well as strength and conditioning! As a professional track and field athlete, high quality PT is so important. Since beginning to work with Melissa, I’ve improved my personal best times on the track and I am feeling stronger than ever!"

    – GRACE

  • "I tore my hip labrum while staying in Mammoth for the summer and was initially unable to walk slowly without pain. Every time I saw Melissa I had immediate pain improvements that persisted longer and longer after each session. I was still able to get outdoors and be active for our summer in Mammoth, and had a significantly improved quality of life when it came to my hip."

    – NICK R.

  • "A few sessions with Melissa, and I made way more progress than I had made in two months with my hometown PT. Melissa's methods are magic."

    – JIM D.

  • "Melissa was the best physical therapist I've ever gone to (previously went to 2 others in the Bay Area). Melissa is very well-versed and effective at diagnosing the root causes of my interconnected body-aches and/or asymmetries."

    – CINDY Y.

  • "Melissa has helped me work through the most difficult pain and loss of strength through a 6 month recovery from spinal stenosis flare up. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. She is thorough and continually working on improving her own knowledge in her profession. She’s the best."

    – AMY G.

FAQ

  • Mammoth Physio is an out-of-network provider with all commercial insurances, except for Medicare.  Depending on your insurance benefits, you may qualify for reimbursement.  Mammoth Physio can issue a “superbill”, which is used to submit a claim with your insurance company. Payment is due at the time of service.

  • When speaking with your insurance provider, it's important to ask the following questions:

    • Does my plan provide out-of-network benefits?

    • What percentage of the cost will be covered?

    • Is there a deductible or coinsurance for out-of-network providers?

    • What documentation do I need to submit for reimbursement?

  • No. The California Direct Access Law for Physical Therapy enables physical therapists to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients without first obtaining a referral from another healthcare provider. This law reduces costs and redundancy, and time to see a provider by removing the requirement to see a physician first.  You can also see a physical therapist for wellness services, meaning you don’t need to be actively injured to benefit from the services provided by PT’s.

  • Wellness services include: Manual Therapy & Neuromuscular Re-education for maintenance of chronic or acute musculoskeletal dysfunctions. Strength Testing with Force Plate Technology Strength Training Programming: In Person and Virtual Home Exercise Programming.

  • At Mammoth Physio, an Initial Evaluation service is required to establish care at our facility. A physical therapist will conduct a thorough evaluation and develop a personalized plan of care, which may include Manual Therapy, Therapeutic Exercise, and Neuromuscular Re-education. We use a battery of tests and measures in order to create a snapshot of your overall physical health, including force plate testing, manual muscle testing, range of motion measurements and orthopedic special tests.  You can expect to be issued a Home Exercise Program at this visit in order for you to start your management of your issue immediately.

  • It is best to wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Avoid wearing restrictive clothing such as jeans or tight-fitting clothing. It is also important to wear shoes that provide good support and cushioning.
